Buford the Little Bighorn


Bill Peet is one of my all-time favorite author/illustrators. And one of my favorite Bill Peet books is Buford the Little Bighorn. It's about a bighorn sheep whose horns grow so large that he can't even get around, but then it snows and he totally uses his horns for skis (SPOILER ALERT).

Peet's sketchy, minimalist style isn't necessarily what I think we want for the film, but it's too great not to share. More reference here. Also I always thought he was very skilled at animal expressions:
